On Saturday 20th September, SPC teamed up with Latin Ageing UK to hold an event in Southwark to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, which coincided with the anniversaries of several countries gaining their independence.
The all-day event included a Spanish language learning workshop, ‘Day of the Dead’ mask making, a panel of Latin American elders sharing their experiences, a delicious authentic lunch and dancing from Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguy.
Short speeches were made by His Worshipful The Mayor of Southwark, Sunny Lambe, Former Mayor Sunil Chupra and Matthew Allgood, representing Southwark Charities, who funded the event.
